Link Management Software

Posted on: 11-26-2005 Posted in: SEO Techniques Questions

Hi Cricket,

Wanting to do a link / resources page on my website, but there are too many links to do it manually, so I need some sort of search engine script to put them into categories etc. Could you recommend anything like that? Thanks for your help.

Hi Erica!

I do not personally use, nor do I recommend the use of link management software. This is something I do by hand, one resource at a time.

This question always concerns me. When a site owner feels the need for a program to handle outgoing links, it can be an indicator that they might not understand the true purpose of providing resource links.

“Never choose to exchange links for the sole purpose of increasing your PageRank. If you choose to link to a company, do so because you TRULY BELIEVE you are providing a resource to your site visitors that will benefit them.” Website Linking Strategies

This is not saying that this is not your purpose. I am certain that you want what is best for your visitors. Sometimes it is simply so easy to get caught up in the need for incoming links that we forget that reciprocal linking is only one of the many methods of increasing incoming links.

I fully agree that relevant incoming links are a vital part of the success of your website. However, I feel that the best methods are those that encourage natural linking to your site.

I WILL DEFINITELY SEE YOU AT THE TOP!
