Organizing a Website

Posted on: 10-29-2005 Posted in: Web Development Help

Cricket,

When I first created this site the thinking was to make it as simple as possible for the customer to get to the product. I think it was that it should be less than 3 clicks. That is why I put everything on one page. Now, after going through the classes I believe I should have each item on its own page. So, home > main category > each item instead of Home > all items. Am I on the right track? Or do visitors still prefer less *clicks*?

Hi Micki!

Organizing a website can be frustrating, but you really want to take the time to create the best of both worlds. Make it possible for your visitors to choose.

In your case, your visitors should be allowed to choose to go directly to a course list of only those topics that interest them, or to browse through all of the classes available. When you organize a website using this method, you give your visitors complete control to decide how they prefer to browse. This also makes it possible for your site to be found in the search engines in a variety of ways.

I WILL DEFINITELY SEE YOU AT THE TOP!
